Plough Service at Coventry Cathedral

A celebration of the farming year took place at Coventry Cathedral on 14 January. There was a service of prayer, dedication and blessing for all those involved in agriculture and for those who live in rural communities. The Bishop of Warwick preached and the service was led by Canon Barbara Clutton, agricultural chaplain for Warwickshire. There was be a tractor and plough in the Cathedral together with displays about the work of Farm Crisis Network. (more...)

Revelation is one of the most (perhaps the most) undervalued books of the whole Bible – or maybe I just mean least understood. Even though Christian writers had referred to it from the early second century onwards, there were disputes about whether it actually belonged in the New Testament. Eusebius in the early fourth century regarded it as a 'disputed book' but probably because he found its contents unsettling and uncomfortable as the personal chaplain to the Emperor Constantine. Explaining its very dim view of imperial power to his unpredictable master cannot have been easy! (more...)
